Here’s what the band Dream is up to now, and you’ll be surprised
Remember back to a time when boy and girl bands were having a moment. It was the late ’90s, early aughts and Backstreet Boys, Spice Girls, Destiny’s Child, and 98 Degrees were all the rage, but do you remember a little girl band by the name of Dream? Like several other pop groups from that era, they were formed by Diddy, and the core group included Holly Restani, Melissa Schuman, Ashley Poole, and Diana Ortiz.
The song most likely to jog your memory was their 2000 hit “He Loves U Not,” featuring the ultra-savage lyrics: “He loves me. He loves you not!”
They were active for a few years after that hit but officially disbanded around 2003. They resurfaced again in 2015 with the release of their pop rendition of the Christmas classic “O Holy Night.” They actually went on tour this summer for their My 2k Tour, though it’s unsure if they toured new music or their classic hits. Since the tour ended a few months ago, it’s unclear what their next move is, so we checked in with the individual members with some gold old fashioned social media stalking.
Schuman’s Instagram bio currently reads “Actress. Singer. Comedian. Dreamer,” and she has a new YouTube channel. Ortiz’s private Instagram bio says she’s a “lyrical soul singer.”The rest of the band members have private Instagram profiles, though an E! News interview from 2015 sheds some light on their current career paths outside the band’s reunion. Restani works as an occupational therapist, and Poole says she’s been working as a songwriter and solo artist since the group’s first hiatus in 2003.

The band’s memory has been recently conjured back to the public for an unfortunate reason. Schuman revealed on her blog on November 2, 2017, that Nick Carter from the Backstreet Boys raped her fifteen years ago when she was 18 and he was 22. Carter immediately released a statement denying the allegations, while Schuman thanked her followers for the support she received for telling her story.
I just want to thank everyone for the outpouring of love and support. Thank you for bearing witness to my story. Thank you for providing me a safe place to be open and vulnerable. I love you all. Thank you for aiding me in the healing that I so desperately needed. I am free now.

While the tragic reveal of Schuman’s sexual assault is the reason many are wondering about Dream again, the good news is that the band seems to be alive and well and not ready to close the door on their ~dream~ anytime soon.
