We know when “Westworld” is coming back — but bad news is that it’s probably taking “Game of Thrones'” time slot

After what feels like forever, we finally have a release date for the second season of Westworld — sort of.

When Westworld premiered last year, it became clear pretty quickly that HBO was the master of chaos-filled epics of massive proportion. The series was met with immediate acclaim from critics and fans, making it an obvious shoe-in for a rapid Season 2 renewal. Unfortunately for us — but also fortunately for us — production on Westworld takes a *very* long time and within hours of the Season 2 renewal, the network announced that the series wouldn’t finish production until early 2018. Many believed that the show wouldn’t air until late 2018.

Frankly, with Game of Thrones on a painfully extended delay due to production on the final season, we didn’t think we could wait another year for Westworld, too.

But it appears we won’t have to wait too long, because star Evan Rachel Wood revealed that the series is actually set to return sometime during spring 2018 after a fan begged for an answer in a tweet. Despite production on the series being briefly halted after recurring cast member Zahn McClarnon suffered an off-set medical emergency, the Season 2 premiere will go on as scheduled. false

Not much is known about Season 2 but according to co-showrunner Jonathan Nolan, fans can expect plenty of chaos as Westworld founder Robert Ford’s (Anthony Hopkins) motives are explored. During a behind-the-scenes Westworld clip, Nolan revealed, “If the first season was defined by control, the second season is defined by chaos. That’s part of what we come to understand Ford has been planning all along.”

We also know that in addition to Wood, cast members including James Marsden, Jeffrey Wright, Ben Barnes, Thandie Newton, and Ed Harris are set to return for Season 2.
