We’re finally going to meet this “Grey’s Anatomy” character’s mom

Fans of Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital better buckle up as we’re finally going to meet Dr Maggie Pierce’s mom when Grey’s Anatomy returns from it’s midseason break.

While we were devastated that Grey’s Anatomy had been delayed by one week, the painful wait is nearly over as our fave medical drama returns this Thursday on ABC. The first episode back looks like a corker, too, set outside the hospital and following Dr Robbins, Dr Bailey, and Dr Wilson as they visit a women’s prison. What’s more, it was recently teased that we were *finally* going to be introduced to Dr Jackson Avery’s father when the show returns, something we’re sure will kick up a storm of drama.

However, it seems that the next half of this season of Grey’s Anatomy is going to be a family affair as we’re also getting introduced to Maggie Pierce’s mom!

While we know that Maggie’s biological mother is actually Ellis Grey (who is also Meredith’s mom), who became pregnant with Maggie following her affair with Richard Webber, it’s actually Maggie’s adoptive mom that we’re going to be introduced to, and we can’t wait to meet them.

From what we know about Maggie’s parents, they’re both outgoing and sweet people who send singing telegrams to their daughter to wish her congratulations for getting a new job.

However, it was revealed, sadly, that Maggie’s parents were getting a divorce, which could the be the prompt for her mom to head to Seattle and visit her daughter.

Well, Entertainment Weekly has bagged pictures of Maggie’s on-screen mom, and we’re seriously excited.

Played by LaTanya Richardson Jackson, the real-life wife of Samuel L. Jackson, details about Maggie’s mom’s appearance are being kept tightly under wraps. However, we do know that she’s called Diane and that her appearance on Grey’s Anatomy is set to air on February 9th.

Meanwhile, fans recently got a sneak peak at Thursday night’s mid-season premiere, which sees three of Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital’s doctor’s head to a women’s prison to take care of an inmate who is pregnant. Watch the teaser clip below.
