We’re all about Lady Gaga’s perfectly understated AMA performance
There were many incredible performances at the American Music Awards last night, but perhaps the most heartfelt AMA performance was from Lady GaGa, who is always unpredictable in the best of ways.
She sat down for her performance of the beautiful country ballad “Million Reasons,” off her latest album Joanne, and it was truly a highlight of the evening (and maybe even a highlight of her entire career.
She has said that this emotional song was inspired by David Bowie, and related to all the men in her life who needed to give her one reason to stay, but usually gave her a million reasons to leave (we can relate to that, GaGa. Hardcore.). Seriously, there were no bells and whistles here, just stripped-down Lady GaGa at her best.
"I've got a hundred million reasons to walk away, but baby I just need one good one to stay."
That chorus and the way she hits that emotional peak…it’s almost hypnotic.
"THANK YOU! To the #amas for a beautiful evening!!!!!! I had such a wonderful time and I felt blessed every second to be able to be a part of it and sing for you."
We love this song for a million reasons, literally. For starters, it encompasses so many experiences we’ve had in our own relationships and friendships. It’s also hopeful while remianing unapologetically honest in a way that cuts right to the core.
Lady GaGa has been playing smaller venues lately for her dive bar tour, and we’ve got to say, the intimate setting suits her so well.
Congrats on an EPIC performance, GaGa!
