Hear Me Out—You Need This Face Cream if You Get Super-Dry Skin
Nothing makes my skin as firm, hydrated, and radiant as Skin Food does.

Welcome to Game Changers, a weekly series in which we reveal the holy-grail beauty products we’re loving now—the ones that saved our hair, cleared our skin, and, in some way, changed our lives.
Even though I spent four years testing hundreds of skincare products a year for my job, there aren’t many products that I consistently recommend to people now. This is mainly because everyone’s skin is different; what works very well for me may not work for someone else. There is one product, however, that I always feel completely comfortable and confident recommending to anyone who asks: Weleda Skin Food. I started using the ultra-thick moisturizer a little more than a year ago, and I’ll never, ever look back.
If you think that a thick, heavy moisturizer isn’t for your skin, then you should know that I thought the same thing before I started using Weleda Skin Food. The first time I used it I thought there was no way I’d ever get used to it, but I was wrong. And PSA: Even if you’re used to a heavy-duty moisturizer, odds are that this is still going to be thicker than you’re used to. There’s a reason many people use it on their feet, elbows, and other dry or rough patches—it’s thick, and it can feel a little waxy at first, too, but it works.
Any hesitation you might have regarding the consistency of Skin Food goes out the window when you see how good your skin looks the morning after using it. There’s nothing I’ve used (and I’ve tried hundreds of moisturizers) that leaves my skin feeling as firm, hydrated, and radiant as Weleda Skin Food does. Whenever I skip it for a night I can see and feel the difference the next day—my skin will feel less bouncy, look duller, and will be more prone to breakouts, too.
Created from ingredients like calendula, chamomile, oils, and beeswax, Skin Food serves as the ultimate moisturizing and hydrating skincare product. I use it as my nightly face cream, makeup primer, and on any particularly dry, rough, or irritated skin on my body. For my face, I often mix the traditional Weleda Skin Food (there is a Skin Food Light version that’s less thick) with a few drops of face oil to make it easier to apply.
I’ve recommended Skin Food to countless friends and family, and they all say that they’re never going back to whatever they had been using before. Conveniently, Weleda Skin Food lasts a long time and is affordable, too. One of my favorite things about Skin Food is that it isn’t pretentious: It’s affordable and effective without needing a 10-step routine to go with it. It’s an accessible product that delivers real results—and in my book, there’s nothing better than that.
