Welcome to the world, Baby Cumberbatch!

If you woke up this morning and the sun was shining a little extra brightly and the birds were singing a little extra sweetly and the wind was wafting the scent of flowers your way and you couldn’t figure out why everything was just so perfect and lovely, consider your mystery solved, everything is great because Benedict Cumberbatch and Sophia Hunter just had their baby!

“Benedict Cumberbatch and Sophie Hunter are delighted to announce the arrival of their beautiful son,” Cumberbatch’s rep, Karon Maskill told US Weekly. “We would kindly ask everyone to respect the family’s privacy during these next few precious weeks.”

So while we’re over here TOTALLY respecting privacy (but also waiting on pins and needles to see baby pics whenever Cumberbatch and Hunter feel up to a shoot and a share) let’s do a little bit of catch-up re: the magic and the wonder that is Cumberbatch and Hunter’s relationship. The two met on a movie set in 2009, announced their engagement in November of 2014, announced Hunter’s pregnancy in January of 2015, and then had a super-secret wedding this past Valentine’s Day. Hunter is a badass theater director who directs classics, operas, and contemporary experimental work. Cumberbatch is EVERYTHING, like we could list off all his film and TV credits, but it would just be the same as saying he’s EVERYTHING.

So now we will just sit back and wait patiently for pics. Oh please, Little Cumberbatch, please make sure you inherited your father’s cheekbones, like, it’s of course fine if you don’t, the most important thing is that you’re healthy and happy, but if you could also figure out a way to be the Next Generation of Cheekbones while also being healthy and happy that would be AMAZING, thank you!
