Now is when we tell you about the weirdest stuff we bought this year
HelloGiggles editors and contributors weighed in on the weirdest stuff they decided they absolutely had to have this year. And here you have it:
Elena Sheppard—stick-on mustaches
So some friends and I had a good old-fashioned slumber party earlier this year and everyone had to bring a party favor. I brought stick-on mustaches. I cannot tell you how many random times these bad boys have come in handy over the last 12 months.
Piper Weiss—a Gerry Rafferty record
A Gerry Rafferty record from 1979 after falling in love with the song “Right Down the Line.” The back cover of the album features a cartoon version of the singer floating through Los Angeles with a magic guitar. Yes, it’s awesome (and only 99 cents!)
Amelia Olson—a pair of tapestry loafers with llamas on them
I found them for 50 cents at a garage sale.
Sophia Elias—a card rack
Who buys card racks? I do. Two, actually, because I have a card business. One of them is in use at a store, the other one is sitting next to my computer, collecting all the faulty, misaligned cards I don’t know what to do with.
Sundi Rose-Holt—a bucket of door knobs
You never know when you might need one.
Carly Lane—an adult-sized giraffe onesie
As a tall lady the giraffe is my spirit animal.
Lindsey Robertson—a jar light that looks like it’s filled with fireflies
It serves zero purpose, but it does make me feel whimsical.
Nicole Daddona—a googly-eyes contact lens case
It’s from Magic Society on Etsy.
Caroline Gerdes—a sugar-skull rubber ducky
Some backstory: I collect Mexican Day of the Dead figurines. So I had to buy this. He’s now my tub buddy.
Rachel Grate—Tequila Mockingbird
This awesome item has drink recipes named after famous books. I’ll be breaking it out at this year’s holiday parties!
Margaret Eby—a ring that says “Snacks”
I love it!
Kathryn Lindsay—a wood carving of a cat sitting in the namaste position
The woman I bought it from said she hoped it would “bring me peace” and it makes me smile every time I see it.
Erin Mallory Long—Mr. Sparkle (from The Simpsons) earrings
I went to Unique LA last weekend and saw these from a shop called Bee Is For Bear and knew I had to have them!
Brittany Allen—a vintage Aliens movie poster.
This was a present for the old ball and chain.
Jill Layton—Magical Golden Reindeer poop ornaments
They’re Christmas gifts though, so don’t tell anyone.
Gina Mei—Cat self-defense keychain
I’m more of a dog person myself, but these are just all kinds of amazing and maybe one of my favorite things that I own. Plus, they’re cheap and cute and somehow feel a lot more effective than holding my keys between my fingers as a means of self-defense.
