The Weeknd debuted a mini-movie and it’s dark AF

Given that he releases his new album tomorrow (November 25th), The Weeknd has celebrated by releasing a mini-movie and it’s dark AF.

Announcing his new album, Starboy, The Weeknd had previously shared the video for the album’s title track, which saw him murder himself. Similarly, the Canadian singer shared the incredibly violent video for buzz track “False Alarm.”

Starboy is the singer’s third full proper album following last year’s multi-million selling Beauty Behind the Madness, which spawned the hits “I Can’t Fell My Face” and “The Hills.”

Now the singer has shared a 12-minute mini-movie, Mania, which features several songs from Starboy.

Directed by regular collaborator Grant Singer, the 12-minute video features various symbols from the Starboy-era, including a car that had previously been seen in the “Starboy” video and, of course, some rather violent moments.

The clip opens with a black panther in a sterile white room, before transitioning to the singer driving in a fancy car to the club.

Things take a darker turn, however, as scenes of dancing are interspersed with an attempted murder. The clip ends with a woman from the club standing with The Weeknd in the same white room the panther was in while the Daft Punk assisted “I Feel It Coming” plays in the background.

The singer also dropped by Zane Lowe’s Beats 1 radio show to talk about the album.

During the interview, The Weeknd opened up about the recording of the album, his sobriety, his performance anxiety, and the fact that he cut off his iconic hair.
