Get your yellow tees ready, ’cause next Friday we will all #wearyellowforseth

Yesterday might have been the day to wear all green, but on the 27th we’ll be donning our yellow outfits all in support of an amazing little boy named Seth.

Five-year-old Seth Lane lives in Corby, Northamptonshire, and he has lived in a “bubble” for over half of his life. That means living in a completely sterile environment, totally free of germs. Why? Because he was diagnosed with severe combined immunodeficiency, otherwise known as “bubble boy disease” all caused by a mutated gene. The condition essentially renders Seth’s body defenseless and without an immune system, meaning he can get sick incredibly easily.

Life has been very difficult for Seth and his family, according to his mother, Leanne. After his first bone marrow transplant, “he had no contact with other children until he was two-and-a-half,” Leanne told ITV. “We would go out in the pram and I would have to put the rain cover over him with a little fan inside — people probably thought I was mad.” When he did start school and finally made friends, he became sick again because his own cells had turned on him. He’s been in the hospital since January.

The first bone marrow transplant Seth underwent was unsuccessful, so he is soon undergoing a second one (his dad will be the donor) . . . and his family has asked for our help.

On their blog, Our Little Hero, Leanne and Nik (Seth’s dad) posted a video of little Seth holding up yellow speech cards explaining his situation as he smiles adorably.

I mean, it’s pretty impossible not to fall in love with him.

“On 27th March 2015, lots of people are going to wear yellow to show me how much support I have. Do you want to join in?” One of the speech cards read.

“Post a picture of you wearing yellow to Twitter, Facebook, or Instagram with #wearyellowforseth, and my mummy and daddy will show me all the pictures and print them for my room. Thank you!” Seth, we will definitely be joining you. And get well soon!

To find out more about Seth, check out the blog, watch the full video below, or join the Facebook event in his honor. And don’t forget to join us in wearing yellow next Friday, and post your picture on social with the hashtag #wearyellowforseth. You go, Seth!
