We just got more info on Amy Poehler’s new show with Carol Burnett, and here’s what we know

Remember hearing about Carol Burnett’s return to television? Well, we’re getting closer and closer to seeing it happen. ABC just greenlit the pilot of the show. Currently called Household Name, both Burnett and actress Amy Poehler are working on the project. In lack of a better word to express our feelings: yesssssss.

The plot definitely seems interesting. It’s all about a family who buys their dream house, under one circumstance: They’ll have to live with the past owner until she passes away. That part seems grim, but since Burnett and Poehler are both queens of comedy, we have a feeling that they’re going to make it pretty hilarious.

It’s unclear as to whether or not Poehler will be starring in it, but she’ll definitely serve as an executive producer.

If we could guess, it’ll probably function a bit like her pal Tina Fey’s show, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt — in which Fey doesn’t have an active role, but shows up for a fun cameo every season.

Again, that’s just speculation. (Probably because we really miss seeing Poehler on television on a weekly basis.)

Speaking of Fey, Burnett’s influence is credited for helping both Fey and Poehler launch into comedy. We’ve got a lot to owe to this woman, for sure.

The pilot has been written by Michael Saltzman, who is credited for his past work on shows like Murphy Brown and Mad Men. According to Saltzman, Burnett also helped him launch his career. In fact, in his words, she “offered praise and encouragement” right off the bat, and truly believed in his abilities.

In fact, in his words, she “offered praise and encouragement” right off the bat, and truly believed in his abilities. So, he wanted to write and create something extra special for her.

How sweet is that?

"To be able to provide her with an opportunity to ‘play in the sandbox’ again, as she’s fond of saying, is not only an unbelievable thrill but a great honor and responsibility," he said.

No matter what, we seriously can’t wait to watch it. When women like Poehler and Burnett are involved, we know it’ll be a must-see.
