HBO’s next epic series just might be “Watchmen”

Fresh off of The Leftovers, Damon Lindelof might’ve just found his next project, and you’ll probably recognize it. The graphic novel was made into a film in 2009, but now an adaptation of Watchmen might be headed to the small screen with a TV series. Time to renew that HBO subscription!
Watchmen is the latest comic book to potentially make its way onto TV. You might remember the 2009 film adaptation directed by Zack Snyder, which was generally received as staying pretty faithful to the graphic novel about a group of crimefighters seeking justice when one of their own has been murdered. Snyder isn’t involved in the potential TV series, but luckily Damon Lindelof — also of LOST fame — is a big fan so it sounds like the series would be in great hands!
In 2009, he told Comic Book Resources about how the series has influenced his storytelling throughout his career:
"From the flashbacks to the nonlinear storytelling to the deeply flawed heroes, these are all elements that I try to put into everything I write."
Fan reaction seems to be good overall, with many noting that HBO is the perfect home for a show like this. Obviously, it’d be difficult for a broadcast network to get as intense as needed for this adaptation, so we have to agree.

There’s no word on when Watchmen would hit the screen, but there seems to be no shortage of comic book-related material for fans in the upcoming years — which is amazing news!
