WANT/NEED: Gourmet chocolate bars (because you fancy), and more stuff you want to buy

Welcome to Want/Need, a daily roundup of the things our Deputy Editor, Emily Popp, is currently coveting. It might be a pair of pink leather loafers that make her feel like she’s got her s*#t together, or a pool float in the shape of an avocado (because she’s not over the novelty pool float trend). Or maybe it’s as random as, like, dryer sheets. Basically this is all the stuff she’s obsessed with. Poppy’s picks, if you will.
Lash Lift at Hourglass Cosmetics
I have very straight, flat eyelashes, and I just never get around to curling them every day — it takes too much time! Luckily, I had the chance to visit Hourglass Cosmetics’s flagship store in Venice for a lash lift service. A lash lift is basically like a perm for your lashes. The entire procedure only took about 30 minutes, and involved me lying on a comfortable chair with my eyes closed. It was super relaxing; I almost drifted off at one point. Once it was over, the lash lift technician removed the pads from my eyes and I went from straight, stubby lashes to gorgeously lifted lashes. I was shocked at how full and curled they looked — even without any mascara. You have to wait 24 hours before getting them wet, but then you can put mascara on. When I went to work on Monday I put just one coat of mascara on and I couldn’t believe it was my real lashes. My eyelashes have never looked that full before, even after using a curler and multiple coats of mascara. But they’re totally natural looking, not fake at all, mainly because they’re not fake, they’re my real lashes. I had a ton of co-workers ask me if I was using a new type of mascara and complimenting me on my lashes. I explained that it wasn’t new mascara, it was a lash lift. The best part is that it lasts 6-8 weeks! If you’re in the LA area, I highly recommend you pop into Hourglass Cosmetics on Abbot Kinney and get yourself a lash lift.
Seattle Chocolate Coconut Sea Salt Truffle Bar
I was lucky enough to try a box of Seattle Chocolate’s truffle chocolate bars, and it was the sweet treat highlight of my entire week. First off, let’s talk about the packaging. I’m a sucker for pretty packaging, and these chocolate bars are practically a work of art — and make for a perfect Mother’s Day gift. I try to be a nice and generous person, so I shared these chocolates with my co-workers, and they were a MASSIVE hit here at the office. Everyone perked right up — it was the perfect answer to that mid-day, 3 p.m. slump!
Eufloria Aromatic White Wine
Canned wine gets a reputation for being less sophisticated than bottled wine, but that is so not true. I’m very into fancy canned wines, like this Eufloria white wine. It’s an aromatic, light and bright white with notes of citrus and peach. It’s the perfect wine to crack open after a long day at work. I love the convenience of canned wines because you can throw them in the cooler for a picnic and not have to worry about a bottle opener or the glass breaking. And each can is a hefty serving: it’s actually two full glasses worth.
Be Our Guest! by Gray Malin
This children’s book may be for kids, but it has all my personal favorite things: The Parker Palm Springs hotel, Gray Malin photography and cute animals. “Be Our Guest” is Gray Malin’s first book for children, and it is a whimsical delight. My best friend’s daughter is turning five, and I know she will absolutely love pouring over the joyful and hilarious photographs of adorable animals like monkeys, penguins, and flamingos living their best life.
Five and Two Jewelry Mila Necklace
I actually don’t wear a lot of jewelry (I’ve never been a big accessories girl), but when I do, I like to wear a simple pretty necklace, like this double chain from Five and Two Jewelry. It’s so elegant and utterly understated and will go with literally every single thing I own.
Anthropologie Fish Embroidered Napkin
Cloth napkins? How civilized!
Paddywax Ralph Waldo Emerson Cedar & Wild Fern Candle
Paddywax has some of my favorite candles, and I’m obsessed with their Library collection of literary-themed candles. My mom is an English professor, so this is absolutely perfect for her. I think she’ll love the Ralph Waldo Emerson candle. She’s very into the Transcendentalist movement.
