2015 Le Clos du Caillou Cotes du Rhone Vieilles Vignes Cuvee Unique, $27
I have been on the search for a great bottle of red to bring to holiday parties, and I finally found the perfect crowd-pleaser: the 2015 Cotes du Rhone Vieilles Vignes Cuvee Unique. It’s a $27 bottle of vino that is special enough to bring to a formal gathering, and it’s got this great robust, dark fruit-forward flavor. That’s fancy talk for it’s DELICIOUS, y’all. I prefer my red wines on the dry side, and this struck the perfect balance. I brought this to a holiday party this weekend, and it was a total hit.

Erno Laszlo White Marble Dual Phase Vitamin C Peel, $100
When it comes to beauty products, the one area I always consider splurge-worthy is skin care. As long as it actually WORKS. And hoo boy, this Vitamin C peel from Erno Laszlo delivers results in spades. It’s kind of miraculous, and I don’t toss that word around lightly. I’m always drawn to skin care products that have “Vitamin C” in the title, because I love brighteners. And it’s around this time of year when my skin feels especially dull. Just this past weekend I treated myself to quite a few bacon wrapped dates and multiple spiked hot chocolates. So let’s just say my skin was in need of some extra TLC, emphasis on the C. This peel works in two steps, totally different from other products I’ve used. First, you apply the exfoliating peel all over, massage for a few minutes, and then you take the serum and apply it over the peel while it’s still on. The first thing I noticed afterward was that my skin instantly looked brighter, more revived. Usually I don’t notice results right off the bat like that. And just when I thought it might all be in my head, I went to meet up with a friend for brunch and almost immediately she complimented me on my skin. So I can say that this dual-step peel delivered noticeable results, making it worth the splurge-y price.

Vince Camuto Ciao Eau de Parfum Spray, $85
If you need a very last minute gift idea for your mom or your bestie, I highly recommend this gorgeous perfume from Vince Camuto. The packaging alone is beautiful. Giving perfume as a gift can be tricky because scent is so personal. But “Ciao” is the perfect balance of floral and citrus notes, making it a total crowd-pleaser. One spritz and it’ll make you feel like you’re strolling through shops on the streets of Italy.

My kitchen timer broke the other day, and I was quite dismayed. I think this hedgehog timer would make the perfect replacement.
