Disney World’s steep price hike ahead of Star Wars land opening has our wallets softly crying

Disney Theme Parks raise their ticket prices every year, but this recent bump hurts more than we expected. Just days after announcing the new Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge park (which opens on August 29th, 2019 at Disney’s Hollywood Studios), Walt Disney World has raised its ticket prices. Now, a one day park hopper ticket could cost over $200 if you wanted to go between Christmas and New Year’s Eve.

Back in October 2018, Disney implemented a new date-based pricing system, which makes it difficult to see just how much the price hike will affect your pocketbook. Orlando’s Fox 35 broke down some new ticket scenarios:

• One day, one park tickets now cost between $109 and $159, they were previously between $109 and $129.
• One day, park hopper tickets now cost between $169 and $219, they were previously between $139 and $189.
• Tickets to one park during the Christmas holiday are now $159, last year they were $124.
• Easter and Memorial Day tickets are now $139, also up from last year’s $119.
• The first week of November is now $125, up from $114.

The only dates that haven’t increased in price are those during August and September, which is hurricane season in Florida. Those tickets are still only $109 for a one day, one park ticket.

The good news is that you can attend the opening of Stars Wars: Galaxy Edge in August or September at the lowest price point and, for you Californians, Disneyland has not followed suit and increased their ticket prices…yet.

It’s wild that one day at Walt Disney World could cost over $200 to attend for one day, but we guess that’s the price you pay to visit the most magical place on Earth.
