It’s time to say goodbye to one of our favorite “Walking Dead” characters
We should probably have learned not to get attached to anybody on The Walking Dead by now. We have one more heartbreaking death to add to our Walking Dead list after the season finale: Sasha.
Although we loved Sasha dearly, we should’ve known that she was destined to die tragically from the beginning, and not just because basically every character we love on The Walking Dead is at all times moments away from a tear-jerking death scene. The actress, Sonequa Martin-Green, recently landed a role in CBS All Access’ Star Trek: Discovery. Plus, the character she seems to be taking the place of from the graphic novels doesn’t make it far, either.
Sad as we are to see yet another one bite the dust, and confused as we are that anybody is still watching a show that’s solely grief porn, the way Sasha went out was really moving, and Sonequa Martin-Green agrees.
When asked about leaving the show and her character’s final moments, Sonequa only had lovely things to say.
"It just felt so right, she explained to Vanity Fair. “It felt so complete. It was quite poetic when I found out how it was going to happen. Because I felt like it was the perfect end to my story, the perfect culmination of my life. I felt like all of my roads had led to that moment of getting to that place of complete selflessness. It felt perfect.
Since so many actors and characters don’t get that kind of closure, we’re happy that leaving the show was a positive experience for Sonequa, and although we’ll super miss her on The Walking Dead, we’re excited to see what she gets up to when boldly going where no (wo)man has gone before.
