Mandy Moore celebrated the 16th anniversary of “A Walk to Remember,” which means the movie is old enough to drive

A Walk To Remember is a truly *iconic* love story. Mandy Moore and Shane West brought Nicholas Sparks’s novel and the characters of Jamie and Landon to life in epic fashion. For a lot of us, the film was our first foray into super emotional romance movies. Who among us was able to keep from ugly crying at the end of the film when Landon reflects on his romance with Jamie after her death? I mean, c’mon, “Her love is like the wind. I can’t see it but I can feel it.” Even now, that line has got to stir something deep within your soul, right? From the music (“Only Hope” was absolutely MY JAM back in the day) to the chemistry between Moore and West, A Walk to Remember is an absolute classic.

And as of today, January 25th, it’s 16 YEARS OLD.

Yep. If A Walk to Remember were a human being and not, you know, a film, it would be able to drive. Just let that sink in for a second, friends. But putting aside our mild, collective freak-outs over how old we’re all getting, let’s just take a moment to really revel in how great the movie is…

Feels good, doesn’t it? But of course! Who doesn’t love to feel hella emotional mid-week?! Apparently, that sentiment is shared by the stars themselves, because Mandy Moore and Shane West both took to Twitter to celebrate the film’s anniversary and the timeless love story of Jamie and Landon.

Moore started the nostalgia train, putting out this adorable tweet:

Of course, West didn’t take long to respond with his own adorable tweet celebrating the film, and Jamie and Landon.

On A Walk to Remember‘s 15th anniversary, Moore and West shared their feelings on the film with Entertainment Weekly. West called it a “genuinely phenomenal experience,” and Moore gushed over working with West saying, “Shane was so wonderful…I felt incredibly lucky right off the bat that I had someone who was as willing to work with me and who was patient and understanding. He was just the perfect partner for that.”

Fans were definitely feeling the love the two have for each other, and they were quick to beg the two to work together on a film again, or for West to have a cameo on Moore’s hit TV show This Is Uswhich we are ALL for.

So on this hallowed day, let’s all throw on our old A Walk to Remember soundtracks, jam out to the Switchfoot songs and Mandy Moore’s cover of “Only Hope,” and have a global, nostalgic movie night.
