Visual proof that Mindy Kaling’s new book is REALLY coming soon!

Wait. Stop everything. Mindy Kaling has a new book, Why Not Me? and it sounds super amazing and we’re not sure if we’ll be able to contain our impatience slash excitement slash feelings all summer.

The follow up to her first book, Is Everybody Hanging Out Without Me? (and other concerns), won’t be available until September 29th, but you can check out the dazzling and adorable cover now. Also, do you remember how funny her first book was? We have exceptionally high hopes that this second foray will be even funnier.

Mindy officially revealed the cover Tuesday via Twitter, but she’s been thinking about the book for a really long time. She announced plans for a second book last year at SXSW, and talked a little about what the title means to the Los Angeles Times. She told reporters that the title, “has kind of been my subconscious motto my whole life.” We like that motto too: Why not me?

Her first book dealt with a lot of her struggles and successes in the areas of work, life, and friendship, but Mindy, as you probably well know, has had a lot of experiences in the interim and has a lot more to say. She told the LA Times, “ So much has happened between the time I published my first book and now,” and “I can only fit so much into the show and have all this extra stuff.” She also says she’s excited to use the book to answer people’s question about things like, “The writers’ room, or race on the show — my Elle cover, body image stuff that people have questions about. I can actually finally say, in the most eloquent way, what my feelings were about it.” We LOVE that.

We also think it’s pretty safe to say that nobody is hanging out with Mindy these days. Let the September book countdown begin.
