A woman got a creepy text from a Jiffy Lube employee—and her response was perfect
Unfortunately, most women have dealt with unwanted advances from men at some point in their lives—and it can be seriously unnerving. So when one woman received a creepy text from a Jiffy Lube employee after getting her car checked, her expert-level clapback quickly went viral.
Twitter user LovableAndKind recently shared screenshots from a text exchange between her sister and the offending employee. The interaction began with the man texting her sister, “You are gorgeous.” When she asked who the person was, he responded with, “Your favorite oil change guy.” She then proceeded to turn his harassment into a “teachable moment.”
"While I know you were wanting to give me a compliment, it was completely unnecessary and unsolicited," she wrote. "I am a customer, you are a service provider, and there should be no communication outside of that unless I, the customer, express interest."
She went on to reiterate that she’s married (which she had mentioned in the shop), and pointed out that he must have found her number in her customer files—which is a huge invasion of privacy.
“It is a violation of my privacy for you to contact me from your personal phone with information that you got without my permission. And now I know that you are the type of person to go back in someone’s file to find their personal information, what is to keep you from going back and getting my address? There are men who stalk, rape and murder women this way.” false
She then wrote that she could report the Jiffy Lube employee to HR but would rather know that he understood what he had done wrong. He eventually replied with a curt, “Sorry about that yes ma’am.” She also made one last point before wrapping up the conversation:
"Oh, and you didn't tell me what the tire pressure was on the rear passenger tire like I asked, so you're definitely not even in my top five favorite oil change guys."
As of today, January 23rd, LovableAndKind’s post has been retweeted more than 21,000 times and liked more than 111,500 times. We’re cheering at this woman’s flawless response to inappropriate—and plain creepy—behavior. Hopefully, the Jiffy Lube employee genuinely learned from this encounter.
