What did Viola Davis’ daughter dress up as for Halloween. Why, Viola Davis, OF COURSE

Remember what it was like to choose your Halloween costume as a kid? It was an agonizing process. When you’re still little and your imagination is still huge, you really think that whatever costume you put on is going to transform you into that thing, whether it be a witch, a Minion, a ninja – anything! I dressed up as Sabrina the Teenage Witch for three years in a row, not only because I wanted to powers to shoot out of my pointer finger, but because I worshipped her. I wanted to be Sabrina for real.

Viola Davis’ four-year-old daughter, Genesis made a similar decision this year when picking her Halloween ensemble. She wanted to dress up – nay, transform – into someone absolutely amazing. Her mom and How To Get Away With Murder, Emmy-award winning actress, posted a photo of Genesis’ final choice. “So…..the Elsa costume?” Viola wrote in the caption. “Didn’t work for her. The Pirate? A no go. So she finally said,” I just want to be YOU mommy”! So… uhh….this is ME.”

Yassss! If your goal is to dress up as someone fierce, fabulous, and uber talented, then Viola Davis should be the most obvious choice. Genesis knocked the costume out of the park with red lipstick, a white dress, and – duh – an award.

Genesis has been unwaveringly supportive of her mom. Back in September when Viola won her Best Actress Emmy, Genesis “hacked” her Instagram, posting the most adorable, heartfelt congratulations message to ever exist. “I love you, Mommy,” she says in the video. “And I hope you win another Emmy. And you’re my favorite girl, and I love you.” “You’re my favorite girl.” How sweet is that? Genesis seems like a natural in front of the camera. Like mother like daughter – I have a feeling there are going to be a lot more Emmys living in that house in the future.
