This video perfectly parodies why period stigma is so ridiculous
Earlier this week, we were talking about how 2015 was the “Year of the Period.” After all, we saw a lot of rad women making waves and dispelling the stigma surrounding periods. But unfortunately, though it was a year of change, we’ve still got a lot of work to do in 2016 — and that’s exactly what College Humor is proving to us in their hysterical parody video called “Periods Aren’t That Gross.”
For the unsuspecting dude, the video also answers all of the questions about why women are the way they are, obviously. Like why we have such big purses, and why we can’t drink as much as the guys, and a *very* fascinating theory as to why us ladies travel in groups to the bathroom. It’s for SAFETY, guys, and it’s all linked to that time of the month — that mysterious, mystical time when no one really knows what’s happening, except for the fact that it’s totally gross. Duh.
Though the video is absolutely hilarious, it’s also a bit sad that we have to find this so hilarious — that so many people in the world think that periods are a disgusting thing that should never be talked about instead of what they are: An awesome, natural process and reason we’re all here today. But, hey, leave it to College Humor to get us laughing about the ridiculousness that is the period stigma.
