This video of a little girl asking her divorced parents to be friends is heart-wrenching

Relationships can be really, really difficult. And when you throw a child into the mix, it can make things even more complicated. But one six-year-old girl wants her mom to know that, although she understands it can be hard, she just wants peace and tranquility.

A Canadian mother known as Cherish Sherry on Facebook recently posted a video of her daughter, Tiana, giving a ridiculously beautiful and charismatic speech about the importance of friendship. Tiana’s mother, who is single and divorced, had been arguing with Tiana’s father. Tiana overheard, and she had something to say: that she just wants her parents to be friends.

Tiana started with a question: Is her mother ready to be friends with her father? When Sherry answered in the affirmative, Tiana blew us away and proved that she’s wise beyond her years. “Just try your best,” she told her mother. “I don’t want you and my dad to be replaced and meanies again. I want you and my dad to be placed as settled and be friends.”

Tiana wanted to make her mother understand that she’s “not trying to be mean.” “I just want all of us to be friends, and if I can be nice I think all of us can be nice too,” she said, breaking our hearts. “. . . I’m trying to do my best in my heart, nothing else than that. I want you Mom, my dad, everyone to be friends. I want everyone to be smiling. . . For you and my dad, Mom, I think you can do it. I think you can settle your mean heights down a little, to short heights.”

Yep, we got teary, too. And so did thousands of others, because the video has since been shared more than 260,000 times, with almost 1,000 people commenting to share their support and express how inspired they were by little Tiana. “I was stunned by it,” Sherry wrote on Facebook. “She is teaching me!! Woke me up. . . She brought me [to tears] and [made me] feel guilty.”

Tiana had some seriously enlightening advice that didn’t only apply to her mother and father, but to everyone. “My heart is something,” she said. “Everyone else’s heart is something too. And if we live in a world where everyone’s being mean, everyone’s gonna be a monster in the future. . . only the monsters in our place.”

Wow. Tiana is going to be a poet, or a writer, or a world leader, or ALL of those, because she has a way with words at such a young age. We are feeling all the feelings listening to her speak, because she’s right — everyone can be nice, and everyone has to be nice for our world to be the best it can be. Watch the entire video below and be prepared with some tissues.
