Victoria Beckham opened up having insecurities in the Spice Girls, and how she overcame them

Despite being all about Girl Power and banging pop songs, it seems that during her tenure in the Spice Girls, Victoria Beckham still felt some insecurities.

While there are never ending rumors and chatter about a possible Spice Girls reunion, we know that Victoria Beckham has been particularly reticent about reforming the group as a five-piece. That hasn’t stopped the fashion designer and mother of four from giving impromptu Spice Girls performances and from singing along to “Spice Up Your Life” with James Corden during a mini-Carpool Karaoke segment. Indeed, Mel C (akak Sporty Spice) recently teased that she felt that Victoria might even be coming around to Spice reunion…

Well, reunion chatter aside, it seems that Victoria has been recalling her Spice Girls heyday, and the insecurities she felt being in the band.

In a new interview with Elle UK, Victoria said that she enjoyed her time in the band, but knew that there were limitations.

"Being in the Spice Girls was so much fun, but I was never the best singer or dancer," she says. "I learned an enormous amount during that time, though: the staging, the lighting, the costumes – the package excited me."

Victoria went on to say that thanks to the experience of being in the band that she was inspired to launch her own clothing line, but she could see how her insecurities affected her.

"When I look back at my past self, [the way I dressed and behaved] was probably a sign of my insecurities," she admits. "I feel quite confident in myself now – getting older doesn't bother me."

The former singer also spoke about how people infamously judge her as being cold, and suggested that she was actually a pretty good laugh.

“I don’t tend to go to parties, but if I do go out for dinner, I like to have a drink and really have fun,” she said. I’m really good value at a dinner party – I want to relax and have a laugh. I like to have fun, and I think that often surprises people.”

Meanwhile, Victoria Beckham recently launched a collection with Target, and we have to say we’re OBSESSED with it.
