Posh Spice might be returning to the Spice Girls, and just say you’ll be there, VB
In November 2018, after what felt like years of rumors and false hope, the Spice Girls announced that they were getting back together for a reunion tour. The news had us practicing the lyrics to “Wannabe”—until we learned that Victoria Beckham, aka Posh Spice, wouldn’t be joining the rest of the group on tour. But it turns out that there might still be hope for a reunion of all five Spice Girls.
The Daily Mail reports that on the U.K.’s The Lateish Show with Mo Gilligan, Mel B told the host that she overheard her mom talking to Beckham at a recent party. Their conversation suggested that Posh would be down to join the rest of the Spice Girls at the 2020 Glastonbury Festival, which they’re rumored to be headlining, E! News notes.
"Funnily enough, my mum was at her mum’s summer party and Victoria was there, and she did actually mention to my mum that she’d love to do Glastonbury for their 50th next year," Mel B told Gilligan.
Mel B swore she was telling the truth.
"'It’s not just me saying it, she actually did say that to my mum," she added.
The fab four kicked off their Spice World 2019 tour in May with a performance in Dublin’s Croke Park.
They wrapped the tour with a June 15th concert at London’s Wembley Stadium. As mentioned, E! News notes that Mel B has said the group might also headline Glastonbury for its 50th anniversary in 2020, but that hasn’t been confirmed yet.
After the group announced the 2019 tour, Beckham wished the rest of the girls luck in an Instagram post.
"I won't be joining my girls on stage again but being in the Spice Girls was a hugely important part of my life and I wish them so much love and fun as they go back on tour next year," she wrote. "I know they will put on an amazing show and the fantastic fans past and present are going to have a wonderful time!"
We’re keeping our fingers crossed that if the Spice Girls do headline Glastonbury, Beckham will say she’ll be there. But of course, at the end of the day, it’s up to her. We can always watch Spice World on repeat.
