Victoria Beckham opened up about the secret to her marriage

While the Hollywood relationship landscape is rocky at best, David and Victoria Beckham’s marriage seems full of love and support. But while (to us) their love story is as close as it gets to a modern-day fairytale, there’s still plenty of hard work that goes into it. So when the former Posh Spice fessed up about the foundational secret to her and David’s iron-clad relationship, you best believe we were ~all~ ears.

"[David's] great. During fashion week, when I'm working, the children will be in New York and he's already planned to take them to museums then out for dinner on Saturday night, so he is very good at that sort of thing – as am I," Victoria told Elle U.K.

“That’s how you can show your support in a marriage, by saying, ‘You know what, I’ve got this.’ That’s what makes a good partnership.”

While taking the reigns for your S.O. in times of need may seem like a no-brainer, it’s little actions like this one that tend to mean *so* much and that lay the foundation for nurturing relationships. And given both David and Victoria’s colossal business ventures and high-profile commitments, it’s a miracle they have time to ever take care of just themselves, let alone each other and their four kiddos!

“David and I both respect that each of us are very, very busy; we are both running big businesses, but we do put the phones down, and sometimes we just talk,” she told the magazine. “When David was on Desert Island Discs on Radio 4 recently, it was great to sit as a family and listen.”

Clearly, the 42-year-old fashion designer knows what she’s talking about when it comes to building a successful marriage. She and her former soccer star hubby have been together for nearly 20 years. And while their relationship has no doubt involved lots of work, Victoria doesn’t deny the spark was there instantly.

“Yes, love at first sight does exist. It will happen to you in the Manchester United players’ lounge – although you will get a little drunk, so exact details are hazy,” she revealed in a letter written to herself for her Vogue 2016 cover.
