Here’s a peek at the Vans x Karl Lagerfeld sneakers, aka the *grown-up* version of your middle school faves

Once it was announced that Karl Lagerfeld would be collaborating with skate brand Vans on a capsule collection, our inner sk8r girl screamed.
The collection is like a grown-up version of the classic Vans sneakers — Old Skool, Sk-8 Hi, and the Classic Slip-On.
At first glance, the shoes look the same, but on closer inspection, we notice quilted leather (like a Chanel purse, naturally) and “KARL” across the tongue.
We expect to see this as THE fashion shoe, aka buh-bye sparkly white Adidas.

We also seriously dig this backpack from the collection.
The whole collection includes shoes, hats, clothing, and this premium leather backpack.
Not only are the leather shoes sleek and fashion-minded, but they are taking us back to our favorite throwback slip-on sneakers. Remember filling in the white parts with a highlighter?

Angie Dita, Vans Classics’ senior footwear designer, discussed how this collab came about:
"We decided to work together since both Vans and Karl Lagerfeld's brand messaging revolved around creating products that are timeless and iconic."
Speaking on the fashion world’s interest in skate culture, and why high fashion brands like to collab with street wear brands, Dita says, “When I see the fashion world take references from skate trends or brands, I feel that they are intrigued by the fact that skaters are creatives that set their own rules and code. There is something intriguing about how skateboarding symbolizes a sense of independence and non-conforming attitude that begins at their youth. They follow their own path.”
The collection officially launches on September 7 on both Vans.com and Karl.com and the prices are supposed to range from $40-$300.
