We can’t stop listening to Vance Joy’s Taylor Swift cover
Earlier this week, Vance Joy posted a gorgeous acoustic cover of Taylor Swift’s “I Know Places,” in honor of the fact that he will be touring alongside her this year for the majority of her 1989 World Tour.
While the original is a catchy pop wonderland, the Australian singer-songwriter turns it into a haunting love ballad that we can’t get enough of. The cover is an absolute dream, and the video feels so intimate, making it a perfect match to his soulful vocals and guitar.
Of course, the cover feels extra sweet given that just last October, Swift herself covered Joy’s hit song “Riptide” on BBC1’s Live Lounge — further proof of their mutual admiration and respect for one another’s work. Swift’s cover was a bare bones interpretation of the tune, replacing Joy’s upbeat guitar with heartfelt piano and slowing the whole thing down to a croon. It was absolutely lovely, and is well worth a listen if you haven’t heard it already.
And when Swift got word of Joy’s new cover, her response was overwhelmingly positive: T-Swift absolutely loved it, and took to Twitter to express her feelings.
