This woman started a GoFundMe to buy Twitter just to ban Donald Trump (and you might recognize her name)

Everyone knows that Donald Trump loves to tweet. But he doesn’t use the platform for lighthearted jokes and memes like the rest of us. Instead he often uses it to make ill-informed policy announcements, or worse, make fun of people he doesn’t like. Which is exactly why one woman wants to buy Twitter just to ban Trump from the social network.
And you might recognize her name: Valerie Plame Wilson is the ex-undercover CIA agent whose cover was leaked by a member of President George W. Bush’s administration as a ploy to hurt her diplomat husband, Joe Wilson, who criticized the Iraq war. Basically, she’s no stranger to dirty politics. (Naomi Watts played her in the movie, Fair Game, about her life, which is almost cooler than being an undercover CIA agent. Almost.) And she does not like Trump. Wilson wrote on the Go Fund Me page:
"Donald Trump has done a lot of horrible things on Twitter. From emboldening white supremacists to promoting violence against journalists, his tweets damage the country and put people in harm's way. But threatening actual nuclear war with North Korea takes it to a dangerous new level. It’s time to shut him down."
She’s asking for $1 billion to get a controlling interest in the company.

So far, she’s raised almost $44,000, which is sort of hilarious. Enough human beings have donated actual money in an effort to ban Donald Trump from tweeting. When the president hears about this, he’s definitely going to…tweet angrily about it.
Because this is 2017, the White House has issued a statement about her efforts to shut Trump down. It told ABC News that Wilson’s “ridiculous attempt to shut down his First Amendment is the only clear violation and expression of hate and intolerance in this equation.” However, Twitter is a company, not a government agency, so banning someone from using the service isn’t exactly unconstitutional (although some of the policies Trump’s announced on Twitter might be). false
If anything, the effort shows just how divisive Trump is. He is frequently no better than an average troll on Twitter. Just Thursday morning, he retweeted a meme of himself “eclipsing” President Obama, and also attacked the media for criticizing his policies (which, to be clear, is what it’s supposed to do).
Maybe Wilson and all the people who have donated so far are on to something, but she’s just one more person in the world trying to get Trump to stop tweeting his every waking thought throughout the day.
