We’re celebrating Valentine’s Day, mermaid-style

You might have heard — today is Valentine’s Day!

Love is a beautiful thing , but there are actually many different kinds of love. When I was a kid, I used to think of today as a fun day when I would eat candy and receive letters from my classmates. When I was a teenager, it depended on the state of my love life. Now, I consider this day to be important in a different, more serious way. Many think it’s a marketing scheme, but I think that, in times like these, there’s nothing we should acknowledge and celebrate more than love.

No matter who you love, you should use the day as an excuse to spread love.

There are many quotes on love, but here’s one of my favorites:

"Maybe it means something more — something we can't yet understand. Maybe it's some evidence, some artifact of a higher dimension that we can't consciously perceive. I'm drawn across the universe to someone I haven't seen in a decade, who I know is probably dead. Love is the one thing we're capable of perceiving that transcends dimensions of time and space. Maybe we should trust that, even if we can't understand it." — Interstellar, 2014

How about celebrating this holiday by remembering that today is not a corny day, but a day when we can be emotionally free to express ourselves and spread some much-needed love.

Hope you swim by next week, full of candies and love.
