The U.S. State Department accidentally sent out this photo of a cat wearing pajamas
Pretty much anyone who has ever used the internet knows what it’s like to start working on an important project…only to end up scrolling through adorable cat photos. And it turns out even government officials do it, too. The U.S. Embassy in Australia issued an apology after the State Department sent out an invitation to a “cat pajama-jam,” accompanied by a picture of a cat wearing Cookie Monster pajamas.
U.S. officials in Canberra confirmed to BBC News that an unknown number of people received the email, which was simply titled “meeting.” Recipients had the option to RSVP to the invitation, and it contained text in Latin along with the phrase “cat pajama-jam.” The invitation was accompanied by a picture of a cat clad in a Cookie Monster onesie, lounging on a couch while holding a plate of chocolate chip cookies.
That’s one meeting we’d love to attend.

U.S. Mission to Australia spokesperson Gavin Sundwall issued an apology two days after the email was sent, according to the Australian Associated Press. His apology was reported on October 14th.
"Sorry to disappoint those of you who were hoping to attend this 'cat pajama-jam' party, but such an event falls well outside our area of expertise," he joked in his message. "It was a training error made by one of our new staff testing out our email newsletter platform."
Sundwall added that the State Department would implement “strong new management controls” to prevent similar mistakes in the future.
As expected, Twitter was pretty excited about the “cat pajama-jam.”

Mistakes happen, and in this case, it seems like there was no harm done. However, we now officially want to throw our own cat pajama-jam party.
