Khloé Kardashian reveals the upsetting reason why stylists didn’t want to work with her

Khloé Kardashian, reality TV princess and author of Stronger Looks Better Naked, is on July’s cover of Harper’s Bazaar — and she looks gorgeous. In the issue, Khloé discusses her tumultuous relationship with Lamar Odom, and how she started going to the gym as a way of escaping her personal life. She also brings up a topic just as intimate: her body.

Before she lost weight, Khloé admits stylists wouldn’t work with her. And that, before her body transformation, people were paying much more attention to her svelte sisters, Kim and Kourtney.

“I definitely think the fashion industry, and people in general, look at me more now that I’ve lost weight,” Khloé tells Elle“Even on shoots, I would never have options for clothing. There would always be this attention on Kourtney  and Kim, but I was too much work for [stylists] or they had nothing in my size. I wasn’t even that crazy big!”

Regardless of Khloé’s size, it’s disappointing to learn that she was treated differently because of her body type. It’s even more disheartening that Khloé considered herself to be a burden to stylists who apparently expected a different kind of body, perhaps a body that conformed to a more “media-approved” size and shape.

Khloé continues, saying, “People actually said, ‘I just can’t work with you’—because I was too big. That always hurt my feelings, of course.”

And like OF COURSE it hurt her feelings. As a woman who is constantly in the spotlight, it must have been incredibly hurtful to learn her body was considered “too big.” While it can be argued that Khloé chose that spotlight (it’s true), there’s still no excuse to exclude a woman because of her body type. Famous or not, no one is impervious to body-scrutiny and the pressure to look perfect. And unfortunately, “perfect” still comes with very narrow guidelines.

Although Khloé did lose weight, she did so because she wanted to be healthier and work out her personal problems in a productive, athletic way. Whatever insecurities Khloé had about her body, she converted them into the desire to be stronger and happier with herself.

And now, not only is Khloé on the front cover of Harper’s Bazaar (she’s also been on Shape and Complex), but she wrote and published an entire book dedicated to her body.We have a feeling she’s too busy kicking ass to give those stylists who dissed her much of a thought anymore. You go, girl.
