You’re about to fall in love with this unlikely skier’s incredible spirit
As the old adage goes, “it’s not whether life knocks you down, it’s whether you get back up.” That’s one motto that wannabe Olympic skier, Adrian Solano, lives by. However, since his recent appearance at the Lahti 2017 Nordic World Ski Championships in Finland, critics have named Solano the “world’s worst skier.”
And that didn’t phase him the littlest bit.
Amazingly, the Nordic Championships were his first time skiing on actual snow. Hailing from the generally non-snowy Venezuela, Solano has only been able to train on wheels. While this obviously gave him a feel for the method of skiing, his debut performance certainly showed it’s not quite the same. Commentators were quick to remark on Solano’s lack of athleticism, giving him the aforementioned title.
None of these remarks are enough to stop Solano, though.
"From here to the Olympics!," the Venezuelan told Norwegian tabloid Dagbladet.
We totally adore that this hasn’t dampened Adrian Solano’s spirit one bit.
In an Instagram post, Solano addresses those who have been critical of his attempts, saying, “maybe I’ve fallen many times but what really counts is that I will always keep getting up.”

Although Solano put up a good fight, he was unable to finish the race. He told Dagbladet, “this pushes me to try more every day.” And, try he does.
We have no doubt that we’ll be seeing more of him! Let this be a lesson to all of us as well. If at first you don’t succeed, try, and try, and try again.
