Unexpected moments of brilliance from grown up Macaulay Culkin

While we may best remember Macaulay Culkin as the little kid who got left behind by his family on a few different occasions, Keven (KEVIN!) McCallister has grown up a lot. Gone are his days of crazy robber-trapping hijinks and sadly so are the My Girl moments (still getting over that one BTW). Instead, now we’ve got a much more mature, a much more adult Culkin — one who sings about pizza, and cats, and wears t-shirts so meta life takes on new meaning. Sure, it all might be a little bit odd, but he’s kinda living all of our free-spirited dreams.

He routinely sings about pizza.

Culkin’s band, The Pizza Underground, is basically a Velvet Underground cover-band with a pizza twist. They even give out pizza at all of their shows. And suddenly hitting up one of these performances just jumped to the top of our to-do list. The band released the first music video for their pizza cover, and not only does the drummer appear to be playing a cardboard pizza box, but the whole thing is littered with different pizza motifs. It’s not weird, it’s great.

He also sings Billy Joel covers about cats.

It appears that Culkin’s next musical endeavor will be cat focused. He told a crowd in Boston last week that he’s now going to switch to covers of Billy Joel songs all about cats. It seems that he’s reading our minds, and pegging songs to all the things we unanimously like. So, if he’s keeping with that trend, after cats, he’s going to sing about Benedict Cumberbatch, and Scandal. He could have been joking, but don’t tell us if he is. He likes a good Weekend at Bernie’s joke.

His music’s not all that’s been in the news lately. Back in November, one of those pesky “death” hoaxes hit the Internet, claiming that our man Macaulay had died. He is very much not dead, and instead took to Instagram to recreate a joke from Weekend at Bernie’s, like a champ.

His Instagram is really something magnificent.

It’s about 80% about pizza. and you need to see it.

He’s pretty meta.

Remember that time that Macaulay Culkin wore t-shirt of Ryan Gosling wearing a t-shirt of Macaulay Culkin? Yeah, that was the best.

Is Macaulay Culkin quietly trolling us all? He might be, but we’re totally Ok with it.
