OMG, here’s a first look at Lifetime’s unauthorized ‘90210’ and ‘Melrose Place’ movies
Lifetime has yet to fail us, and hopefully that pattern continues on. Following such gems like the Unauthorized Saved By the Bell Story, and the future Unauthorized Full House Story — and A Deadly Adoption, too — the network is bringing us not one but TWO unauthorized specials this fall. These are very important, so go ahead and block off two weekends in October to check out not just The Unauthorized Beverly Hills 90210 Story but the The Unauthorized Melrose Place Story. Pretty sure this is like Christmas in July.
OK, let’s break down these specials one by one. First, we’re going to get an authorized 90210. Though the show ran for ten seasons, this Lifetime special is only going to focus on the first four. AKA, the ones with Shannen Doherty. But, drama alert, Tiffani-Amber Thiessen has also been cast.
What will we get to see with this unauthorized story? Just a peak at all the behind the scenes, “both on and off-set as they journeyed together from near-cancelation to unparalleled fame and success,” according to a network press release. Plus, check out the glorious first-image of the cast all together. Please let Andrea’s fashion come back in style soon.
Now, you can’t just have 90210 without Melrose Place, right? Thankfully, Lifetime is giving us that, too. Described as the “soapier, yet equally popular” show, the unauthorized story will showcase the early casting drama, and include that time when Heather Locklear arrived at Melrose to “save” it. Or, TBH, make it even crazier (and that’s her, right in the middle, played by Ciara Hanna).
What makes this the MOST glorious, is that the same actors playing Aaron Spelling and Darren Starr (Dan Castellaneta, aka Homer on The Simpsons, and Adam Korson, from Hot In Cleveland) will cross-over for both specials. Clearly Lifetime thought this thing out ahead of time.
So when can you see these unauthorized stories with your own eyes? Lifetime’s scheduled them on back-to-back weekends, because they truly care about us. 90210 will air Saturday, October 3rd at 8pm, and Melrose Place will air the following Saturday, October 10th, also at 8pm.
Thank you so much for this, Lifetime. We own you one.
