Uma Thurman cut her daughter’s hair, and now she looks like one of Uma’s most iconic characters

As the days in quarantine rack up, more people are restlessly reaching for the scissors. Cutting or dyeing your hair in quarantine is no longer a shock—it’s more like a right of passage. The latest celebrity haircut resulting from social distancing? Maya Hawke, the daughter of Ethan Hawke and Uma Thurman. The Stranger Things star’s fresh cut was done at the hands of none other than her mother, and the haircut is reminding us of one of Thurman’s most iconic characters: Mia Wallace in Pulp Fiction.

On April 23rd, Thurman posted a photo of herself acting as her daughter’s hairstylist. In the photo, Thurman is trimming Hawke’s hair with scissors, finishing off a blunt bob that hits just below the actress’s ears.

Thurman captioned the post, “Home haircuts bring us back home. We are all finding our selves again.”

The two appear to be having a night of family fun in their kitchen—wine, casseroles, haircuts, and all. Although we can’t see the front of Hawke’s haircut—and don’t know if she’s rocking those iconic Mia Wallace bangs—we do know that the dark, blunt bob strikingly resembles that of her mom’s mysterious ’90s character.

If only she was reenacting that diner dance scene. Hawke has rocked shorter hair for the past few years, most notably as Robin Buckley, Scoops Ahoy employee and Steve Harrington’s right-hand-woman in Stranger Things Season 3. But this new haircut is shorter and blunter than the wavy bob we’re used to seeing on Hawke.

The 21-year-old actress recently moved back in with her mom due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Hawke opened up about the experience in an interview with Nylon.

“I moved out and got my whole life together and became a person,” she said. “And this disease is like, ‘Ha ha ha, just kidding! You’re a kid, and you live with your parents.’”

The coronavirus is impacting everyone, but it looks like this mother-daughter duo is using quarantine to return to their roots (pun intended). More celebrity hair transformations, please!
