This California-based jewelry brand is helping female artisans in Uganda start businesses, and we’re cheering

If you’re looking to liven up your spring wardrobe, we’ve got everything you need by way of accessories. California-based jewelry brand 31 Bits just released its “Classics” collection, and we’re super excited about it — and not just because everything in the collection is to die for. We love 31 Bits most because it’s a brand that gives back.

The company pays and treats its artisans — employed in Uganda and Bali — fairly, and also operates under a development model in which artisans, once employed, can graduate from its program and go on to run their own businesses, offering a sustainable way for workers to contribute to their communities. As 31 Bits rep Alli Talley put it:

"We believe quality work is a result of artisans who are being cared for as individuals."
