Tyra Banks is now a Stanford professor with a PhD in FIERCE

Tyra Banks has had quite the impressive career trajectory over the past almost 30 years she has been working. From a memorable and flourishing modeling career to success in acting, writing, business owning, and hosting America’s Next Top Model as well as her own talk show, the general consensus is that this lady knows what she’s doing and people who want to succeed in creating their own empire.
Luckily for those folks, Banks is now going to be teaching a course on how to do it. Even more amazing? Said course will be taught at Stanford — yes, that Stanford, where only the smartest cookies get accepted.
Here are the deets: According to Poets & Quants, Tyra Banks is going to co-teach a 2-credit MBA course called “Project You: Building & Extending Your Personal Brand” with Allison Kluger, who is a professor at Stanford’s Graduate School of Business.
The course will be offered in the upcoming spring semester — and, according to its description (yes, it’s already on their course catalog and mentions Banks by name alongside the title of Supermodel/Entrepreneur/Television Executive/Business CEO, which is honestly only a fraction of her accomplishments),
“will help students create their own specific image to support their brand, teach them how to navigate on-air exposure, and help them create a long-term strategy for how to promote their personal brand across several media platforms.”
Aaaaaand just in case you didn’t catch it the first time, the class will be taught by two boss women at freaking Stanford.
“Project You will help each student realize: What is a personal brand and how can it be unleashed as a valuable, competitive advantage?” the course description also says, encouraging prospective students to ask themselves, “Why do you need a personal brand? How do you differentiate yourself and create a brand identity and strategy? How do you use social and traditional media to enhance your brand effectively as well as measure the metrics of social media responses? And how do you know when to pivot and evolve your brand for sustainability?”
It’s not a surprise that someone as whip-smart and business savvy as Tyra Banks — who also holds a certificate from Harvard Business School and somehow also prioritizes being a new mom to her adorable son York — would go in this direction with her career. And only partly because she can seemingly do everything (seriously, next thing we know, she’ll be hosting her own cooking show and none of us will be shocked that she is also a sauce expert).
We can’t wait to read Banks’ reviews on RateMyProfessors.com which, let’s be real, will be all top notch. Do we have time to write that site and have them implement a “Smizing Quality” rating category?
