Two of Rory Gilmore’s boyfriends have an IRL bromance and we support this

Imagine an alternate universe where Dean Forester and Jess Mariano actually got along. Sounds crazy, right? Don’t drop your coffee now, but it seems that Jared Padalecki and Milo Ventimiglia are actually friends IRL.

While Dean and Jess were famous in their quest for Rory Gilmore’s heart in one of The WB’s greatest love triangles, it seems that Padalecki and Ventimiglia are using the press tour for the Gilmore Girls reboot to showcase their love for each other. During an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Padalecki was ambushed by Ventimiglia in an adorable show of affection.

Luckily, EW’s Samantha Highfill was there to witness the encounter:

Not to be outdone by Highfill, Ventimiglia tweeted the adorable selfie he took with Padalecki during his interview ambush. If that’s not a true bromance, we don’t know what is. false

During the press tour for the Netflix reboot of Gilmore Girls, the actors behind Rory’s three major loves — Padalecki, Ventimiglia, and Matt Czuchry (Logan Huntzberger) — have spoken about their characters ten years later.

Padalecki described Dean as being perpetually insecure about his place in Rory’s life. “I think he always felt like she was out of his league. She was smart and funny and quick and everybody loved her, but Dean felt like, ‘I can treat her right.’ He always felt like, ‘I wish I was good enough,’ so he tried to do things that helped convince himself that maybe he was good enough for her.”

As for Jess, Ventimiglia is proud of the person he became. He said, “Jess ultimately grew up. Where you pick back up with him, he’s only become a more refined version of the kid that used to be a troublemaker. He is more caring and caregiving than anything else.”

Fans of the show remember that while Dean and Jess were Rory’s high school loves, she spent much of her college years dating rich kid Logan before turning down his proposal at the end of the series. Czuchry doesn’t have any hard feelings about his character being rejected at the end of the series — in fact, he agrees with the decision.

He told EW, “In the original series, I was happy that Rory said no to Logan because I feel like, at that particular time, it wasn’t right for Rory to get married to anybody, and it shows her strength and her independence, which has always been I think a very powerful theme of the show. I love that ending for the original series.”

Of the reboot, Czuchry added that he thinks Logan and Rory have a very “special” ending. But what does that mean?
