Two new “Harry Potter” books are going to be released
While we always aspire to be Hermione Granger, we have a whole new reason to emulate her and get our hands on some books. That’s because two new Harry Potter books will be released as part of the “Harry Potter: A History of Magic” exhibition. The British Library previously announced that a Harry Potter exhibition will be opening in honor of the 20th anniversary of the publication of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone (that’s Sorcerer’s Stone for us Americans) on October 20th, 2017. And while we don’t mean to be misleading and act like this will be a new chapter in Harry’s story, this news is still exciting for fans of J.K. Rowling’s magical universe.
According to Business Insider, Bloomsbury — the U.K. publisher of the massively popular series — announced that it will publish the two Harry Potter-themed books called Harry Potter: A History of Magic — The Book of the Exhibition and Harry Potter — A Journey Through a History of Magic this fall.
While the titles don’t sound as intriguing as say, The Deathly Hallows, these books will provide insight into Rowling’s ever-expanding wizarding world, like Quidditch Through the Ages and Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them before it was a movie franchise.
Harry Potter: A History of Magic — The Book of the Exhibition will go in-depth on the subjects taught at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, like Transfiguration, Charms, Potions, History of Magic, and Defense Against the Dark Arts. Not to mention, Hermione, Ron, and Harry’s favorite class: Divination.
Harry Potter — A Journey Through a History of Magic will focus on the history of the wizarding world with The Globe and Mail reporting that it will go into some of the more mysterious aspects of magic, like alchemy, unicorns, and ancient witchcraft.
Although Rowling’s level of involvement is not known right now, these books will make a great addition to any Harry Potter fan’s personal book collection — especially if you won’t be able to make it to London for the “Harry Potter: A History of Magic” exhibition.

But with the exhibition lasting until February 28th, 2018 — and with the British Library being located next to King’s Cross — we recommend that, even with the release of these two new books, you do what Ron says Hermione would do: “When in doubt, go to the library.”
