How to Perfectly Paint Your Face for a Summer Music Festival

Sometimes, regular make-up just won’t do. Let’s say you’re headed to a summer music festival and you want to add a little something-something to your make-up routine. Yes, I’m talking about face paint. People have been using body and face paint at festivals since the 1960s, and it’s starting to make a comeback.  A little pattern on your face looks so cute for a special, carefree event. The trick is to know how to apply your facial art so you don’t end up looking like you’re ready for Halloween. Help is here: This tutorial is extremely easy, requires minimal effort and product, and can be done in under two minutes!

Step 1: Start by using a white eyeliner pencil to stamp little clusters on your face.

Step 2: Use a colored eyeliner pencil and add another layer of clusters. I used Make Up Academy’s Intense Glitter Eyeliner Pencil in Jade Jewel.

Step 3: To add a little texture, use a small makeup brush and some liquid pigment to add more flecks. I used LUSH Cosmetic’s navy blue eyeliner in Control.

Step 4: To add a little sparkle, dot LUSH Cosmetic’s cream eyeshadow in Happiness. It’s a beautiful yellow-gold shade that adds great contrast to the blue and green shades! You can use any metallic cream eyeshadow.

It’s as easy as that! You can use as many colors as you want, but I would recommend sticking to three or four similar shades and a metallic tone to add dimension.

I paired this look with a soft, green cut-crease and nude lips to keep all the focus around my eyes.
