Twitter is making a huge change very soon and we’re VERY excited/scared

Since its grand entry into the social media world back in 2006, Twitter has stayed relatively unwavering. Sure, there have been a few changes here and there (like the recent announcement that they’ll stop counting links and photos as part of its 140-character limit) – but for the most part, users have been able to count on the consistency of that 140-character limit.

However… that’s about to change in a BIG way.

For those of you who have a hard time condensing your hilarious, one-of-a-kind thoughts to basically one or two sentences, get ready to rejoice. A date has finally been set for the 140-character limit change. Starting September 19th, links, photos, videos, polls, GIFs, and more will no longer reduce the character count, according to The Verge.

The extra room will obviously give users more room to be thoughtful, poignant, or just straight up hilarious.

So the character limit will no longer revolve around the media attached to it, rather it’ll focus on the message itself.

Another big change is that usernames will also no longer count when they’re at the beginning of replies. (FINALLY.)

It’s unclear if these changes will happen all at once, or if Twitter plans to roll them out in stages. But either way, it’s been reported that the move will at least begin on Monday.

Now, everyone will finally be able to spell out the word “you.”
