Twitter is freaking out over Jordan Peele’s historic 2018 Oscar win for “Get Out”

Actor, comedian, writer, producer, and director — Jordan Peele already has quite the impressive resumé. And after tonight’s big victory, Peele can add Oscar winner to the list. The Get Out creator scored his first Oscar for Best Original Screenplay, beating out other favorites like The Big Sick, Ladybird, and The Shape Of Water.

Peele, the first Black writer to win this category, and his film have already had a lucrative award season, receiving nominations at the Golden Globes and SAG Awards. The film also won awards at the Critics’ Choice Awards and Independent Spirit Awards. Critical acclaim for Get Out, a social thriller exploring the horrors of racism, is a huge win for inclusive storytelling.

While accepting his Oscar onstage, Peele said, "This means so much to me. I stopped writing this movie 20 times because I thought it was impossible. I thought it wasn't going to work. I thought no one would ever make this movie. But I kept coming back to it because I knew if someone let me make this movie that people would hear it and people will see it.

Proud wife Chelsea Peretti posted this awesome photo of her husband moments after his historic win:

And, of course, no one was more thrilled for Peele than Twitter:

His Key & Peele comedy partner, Keegan-Michael Key, emotionally showed his support.

And other celebrities, like Janelle Monáe and Ben Schwartz, couldn’t contain their excitement either.

And we have to talk about the cinematic mastermind’s own reaction.

Congratulations, Jordan! We hope this means we can look forward to a Get Out: Part 2.
