Dying for a slice of cherry pie from this Twin Peaks-themed restaurant
If you’re looking for a damn fine cup of coffee and a slice of cherry pie that’s worth a stop, we know just the place — and it isn’t the Lamplighter Inn.
The Owls Are Not What They Seem is the pop-up “immersive dining experience” inspired by cult favorite TV series Twin Peaks — and it sounds just as amazing as you’d expect.Set in a “fully Lynchian environment” with live entertainment throughout the meal, the restaurant allows super-fans and curious diners alike to fully immerse themselves in the Twin Peaks universe and “truly explore the world of the characters, installations and sets created.”
For £66.50, diners get the full experience, including “one of the finest cocktails in the tri-counties,” a three-course meal, and entry to the Drinking Den — the pop-up’s themed bar, which features “bespoke Lynchian cocktails” and more “late night happenings.” For those of us with less change to spare, you can also buy separate entry into the Drinking Den for £5, starting early August. Diners are encouraged to come dressed in their favorite Twin Peaks attire, as well, and prizes will be awarded every evening for the best costumes. (The press release encourages “surreal small town/extravagant Lynchian chic,” which sounds pretty darn perfect to us.)
The pop-up takes place from August 27 to October 17 this year, at a currently-undisclosed location in central London. A trip to The Owls Are Not What They Seem would be the perfect way to celebrate the series’ highly-anticipated return in 2017 — or, perhaps more accurately, the perfect distraction from just how very far away 2017 is.
