When it was announced that she was newly single, we felt kind of sad. But after being spotted with her famous ex, more and more fans want Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez to get back together.
Around the time that the rumor went around that Gomez and The Weeknd, known off-stage as Abel Tesfaye, had severed ties, she was spotted out with Bieber a few times. TMZ reported that the former couple spent all day together on Sunday, grabbing food at a cafe in Westlake Village and checking out a church service. Known by fans as “Jelena,” people have mixed feelings about the two spending so much time together. Reason being, they’ve been pretty on-and-off since making their relationship official back in 2011.
In 2010, when the two were just teens, they hit it off while grabbing some pancakes at an IHOP in Philadelphia. According to a timeline by Billboard, they were photographed kissing the next year while on vacation, pretty much putting to rest the theory that they were only friends. In March of that same year, Gomez finally dished about the relationship on The Ellen DeGeneres Show.
Sadly, the two decided to call it quits in 2012. Similarly to her relationship with Tesfaye, they blamed distance and their hectic careers for the split.
But in 2013 and 2014, it was apparent that the two remained close — even sneaking in a kiss or two when they figured nobody (but Taylor Swift) was watching.

Still, things were a bit rocky. The two namedropped each other in songs and during public appearances quite a bit. It was obvious that Bieber always felt a connection with the “Bad Liar” singer.
When news came out that she was dating Tesfaye, Bieber admitted he wasn’t a huge fan of the musician, claiming his music “was wack.” Jelena fans weren’t the only ones to think that perhaps this wasn’t the end to Bieber and Gomez’s story.
