These tweets perfectly describe what it’s like to struggle with anxiety

Anxiety is different for everyone — but that’s kind of the point. No one tweet or person can perfectly sum it up for everyone who deals with anxiety, but that’s why talking about it is so important. If we all open up about it and get in on the conversation, we begin to see that all our experiences are different, even just slightly so, and it becomes more normalized and we chip away at the stigma. That’s good for everyone. Then, it becomes easier to talk about from the beginning, and easier to say, “Hey, I’m struggling today (or this week, month, year…).” It becomes easier, as well, to tell others, “Hey, you’re not alone.”

Being open about anxiety also allows people who don’t understand to see that it’s not just a few people who are dealing with it on a day to day basis — it’s bigger than that, and we need to be free to talk about mental health openly, as well as to be told that our feelings are valid and that we have a place at the table when it comes to talking about eradicating stigmas of what a mentally ill person looks like, what we need in the workplace, and more.

Here are just a few of the best tweets going around lately of what anxiety can look and feel like: false false false false false false false false false false false false false false false

If you feel up to it, you can always join the conversation by using the hashtag #TalkingAboutIt. It can also be helpful to just search those tweets, just to know you’re not alone. Remember, you aren’t, and your feelings are valid — no matter what you’re feeling and how alone you may feel, there is someone out there who understands.
