Attention ‘Gilmore Girls’ fans: Lauren Graham’s new show sounds awesome

What’s better than one amazingly talented funny lady on TV? How about TWO amazingly talented funny ladies teaming up together on TV? The two funny ladies in question are none other than our surrogate mom, Lauren Graham, and wise sage, Ellen DeGeneres. NBC gave a script development deal to Graham, for her show Kate On Later. DeGeneres falls into the mix because she’s going to executive produce the show which is nothing but awesome news all around.

Kate On Later will be a half hour comedy — written by Graham and former Sex and the City scribe Liz Tuccillo — and tell the story of Graham’s Kate trying to break into the world of late night talk shows. It’s no secret that our television sets are dominated by male talk show hosts after 11:00pm, so maybe this show could be the nudge we all need to move the needle in the right direction and bring a strong, funny female to the 12:30am hour. Seriously, who better to do that than the invincible pair of Graham and DeGeneres?

Considering Parenthood is going to end no matter how hard we cry about it, this might be the perfect new show for Graham. But, keep in mind that the show only received a script order from NBC, so it’s still a long way from primetime. It’ll get a script, and then hopefully a pilot will be shot, and then it’ll get picked up, and a full series ordered, and all will be right with the world.
