Pretty Little Liar Troian Bellisario was NOT okay with one of her show’s tweets
During last week’s episode of Pretty Little Liars, things got pretty steamy when Spencer (played by Troian Bellisario) met and later made out with Marco Furey (Nicholas Gonzalez) – until she remembered her part in the Liars’ plan.
A quick recap (you’re welcome):

At the time, Spencer was also stressed about the fact that Caleb wasn’t texting her back, so we can understand why this Liar wanted to blow off some steam. However, not everyone saw it that way.
Alongside a photo of Hanna (Ashley Benson) and Spencer, the Pretty Little Liars official Twitter account wrote, “Maybe you shouldn’t make out with strangers in elevators, Spencer???? #PrettyLittleLiars.” (This tweet has since been deleted.)
When Troian came across her show’s tweet, she felt as though her character was being degraded and responded with the following:
wow. I can't believe the amount of sass (read 💩) certain characters get from their own shows Twitter handles. 🖐🏼 bye Felicia

Troian later applauded a PLL fan’s message, pointing out the fact that it sounded as though Spencer was unnecessarily being slut-shamed:
🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻 RT @Kaaaaatie_x: @PLLTVSeries , is there any wonder people slutshame Spencer when the show itself encourages it??

As for us, we’re currently applauding Troian herself. Though it was in response to her own show, the actress wasn’t afraid to speak her mind when she saw something wrong. In standing up for her character, Troian beautifully demonstrated the importance of supporting other women in the face of shame or injustice (yes, even if they’re fictional).
We now hope that Troian just started a trend because we’d love to see more actresses standing up for their characters and for each other.
