Tristan Thompson spoke about his daughter, True, and honestly his comments are kind of sexist
On April 12th, Khloé Kardashian gave birth to her first child, a daughter named True Thompson. Just days before True’s birth, Khloé’s boyfriend and father to baby True, Tristan Thompson, was reportedly caught on film cheating. Since then, Thompson has stayed mum regarding, well, everything — until now.
In the May 9th episode of the UNINTERRUPTED’s Road Trippin’ podcast, Thompson finally broke his silence, opening up about True and becoming a father for the second time (he has a son from a previous relationship).
But honestly, we’re kind of annoyed by his comments.
"She’s doing good," Thompson said on the podcast. "Baby True is eating, sleeping, and sh*tting. That’s all they do. I think with a girl, you’re just so much more emotionally like… With a boy, it’s just like, 'Hey, man. You’ll be alright, man. Stop crying.' But with True, it’s like, 'True, it’s gonna be okay. You know, we’re right here. Daddy’s here to feed you. It’s me! Look, yeah!' It’s way different, but it’s fun, though… It changes you."
Um, sorry, but is Thompson already tagging gender stereotypes onto his newborn baby girl?
We’d like to inform Thompson, and anyone else who thinks they should show different levels of emotion to baby girls and baby boys — you shouldn’t.
Babies, children, teens, and adults of any gender should be taught that tapping into their emotions is perfectly okay — not to mention healthy.Teaching boys from a young age that it’s not “manly” to cry or share their feelings is the root cause of toxic masculinity, which ultimately keeps sexism, rape culture, and homophobia alive and thriving.
Tristan, you’re disappointing us all over again.
We hate to hold a grudge, but Thompson isn’t doing himself any favors. In any case, we’re sending our love to Khloé Kardashian and her new bundle of joy.
