A flight was grounded because a man wouldn’t stop passing gas, and we’re completely serious
Even though modern air travel is one of the safest ways to get from Point A to Point B, sometimes flights don’t go according to plan. Planes can be delayed due to bad weather, or they can run out of fuel. And, in rare cases, their engines even fall apart mid-air. But one Transavia Airlines flight experienced a much more unusual reason for an emergency landing.
On February 11th, a flight traveling from Dubai to Amsterdam was forced to land in Vienna when two passengers complained that the man they were sitting next to was continuously farting. The offended seatmates reported the man to crew members, who saw no reason to — sorry for this — raise a stink about the situation. The captain accused the two seatmates of aggressive behavior, and a fight broke out, causing the pilot to land and remove the unhappy guests. The gassy man was able to remain in his seat.
Security also removed two women who were sitting in the same row as the complainants. The women told British newspaper Metro that they were not related to the two men and would be suing the Dutch low-cost airline.

"Our crew must ensure a safe flight," Transavia Airlines told Metro in a statement. "When passengers pose risks, they immediately intervene. Our people are trained for that."
None of the passengers who were removed were charged with any crimes. But unfortunately, all four have been banned from flying with Transavia Airlines in the future.
From drinking one too many pre-flight cocktails to flushing an emotional support hamster, the stress of air travel can make people do some bizarre things. And we’ve all experienced our fair share of terrible seatmates.
But just in case we’re ever faced with a neighbor who had too many beans for lunch, we’ll try to remember this cautionary tale and remain calm. And maybe we’ll bring some nose plugs, too — just to be safe.
