The trailer for “Moulin Rouge” director’s new Netflix show is here and we can’t wait!

In case you didn’t already know, Baz Luhrmann is the incredible director and total visionary behind the movie musical that likely ruled your romantic fantasies for a while, Moulin Rouge. He also gave us one of our first chances to completely swoon at the young Leonardo DiCaprio in the modern spin on Romeo + Juliet back in 1996 (and then another chance to fall in love with Leo all over again with The Great Gatsby in 2013).

His latest project, The Get Down, is an original series on Netflix. And (for obvious reasons) people are getting really stoked for its premiere. Already knowing the spectacle that Luhrmann can create on the big screen, you can only imagine what type of magic he’ll bring streaming directly into our living rooms. And, from the looks of the latest trailer for the show totally lives up to our already bursting excitement and will leave us with no doubt that this show is going to blow our already high expectations out of the water.

Set in the South Bronx in 1977, the era when hip hop and disco were at war with each other (along with drugs and gangs at a more dangerous war with each other), this show seems to have it all. It’s got music, love, dancing, drama, and basically everything we could ever wanted in a clearly binge-worthy show.

One of the supervising producers during an interview with EW described it with,“I would say this is a Baz Luhrmann extravaganza. This is like a big huge colorful party with story.”

Though the trailer itself is only 30 short seconds, it packs a ton beautiful visuals, has
perfect music, and unveils an exciting storyline in that short amount of time. We can only imagine that the series itself (which is set to premiere August 12) will be everything we could hope and more.

Watch for yourself and prepare to time-travel into an exciting (not to mention, totally stunning) world:
