The trailer for ‘Audrie & Daisy’, Netflix’s new doc about sexual assault, is so intense
Ready to have your heart drop out of your chest? Then you might want to check out Audrie & Daisy, a new Netflix documentary about two amazing young girls who fell victim to sexual assault. While the girls didn’t know each other, they both had similar horrific things happen to them that changed their lives — and their stories are so compelling that getting a closer look will only further illustrate how terrible the culture that facilitates sexual assault really is.
The movie depicts the journey of Daisy Coleman and Audrie Pott, two teenage girls who had their lives ripped away from them based on being attacked, and then having the footage circulate throughout social media.
Not only were their situations embarrassing to them, but before they knew it, their entire town had seen and witnessed them in such vulnerable, horrific situations.
Hopefully the documentary will bring awareness to the fact that these incidents happen much too often, and the aftermath truly takes a toll on the victim, as well as the family and friends of the victim. It’s a must-watch for everyone.
Audrie & Daisy debuted at the 2016 Sundance Film Festival in January of this year, and it was quickly bought by Netflix soon after. Created by Bonni Cohen and Jon Shenk, the documentary was put together to analyze the true power of social media, and the negative impact it can often cause when personal information is so easily shared.
Audrie & Daisy will be available for streaming on September 23rd, but you can watch the extremely powerful, beautifully-shot trailer in the meantime. Warning: it might just bring you to tears.
